Money Bits ("the App", "we", "us") is a personal finance tracking application published by IB Tech Lab. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and what choices you have. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service.
The short version
Money Bits is built to keep your financial data on your own device. We do not operate a server for this app, we do not create user accounts, and we do not collect, receive, or have access to your transactions, balances, or any other information you enter. There is no analytics, advertising, or tracking software built into the App. The only thing the App sends anywhere is a locally-scheduled reminder notification that never leaves your device.
1. Information the App Stores
1.1 Information you provide directly
When you use Money Bits, you may enter:
- Account names, balances, colors, and icons ("wallets")
- Account groups
- Transactions (income, expenses, transfers, and balance adjustments), including amounts, dates, notes, and the account(s) involved
- Categories and subcategories you create or customize
- Your selected base currency
- Your notification preferences (whether the daily reminder is on, and what time it fires)
All of this information is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database file that lives inside the App's private storage area on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any server, because the App does not communicate with a backend at all.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
None. The App does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking libraries of any kind, and does not collect device identifiers, usage statistics, IP addresses, or location data.
1.3 Permissions the App requests
- Notifications— requested only if you turn on the "Daily Reminder" feature, so the App can schedule a local reminder to log your spending. This is a device-local notification; no push token or notification content is sent to us or to any third-party notification service.
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, or call/SMS data, and does not need broad storage permissions — file access for backup export/import (see below) is limited to files you explicitly choose.
2. How Information Is Used
Everything you enter is used solely to power the App's own features on your device: calculating balances, generating your history, analytics, and charts, and deciding whether to fire your daily reminder. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond running the App as you'd expect it to.
3. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place.
The App does include optional, user-initiated export features:
- Export Data(Settings → Data Management) lets you generate a full backup (JSON) or a transaction export (CSV) and share it using your device's own share sheet — to email, cloud storage, messaging apps, or anywhere else you choose.
- Import Data lets you pick a previously exported backup file from your device to merge into or replace your current data.
These actions are entirely under your control: the App only creates the file and hands it to the operating system's standard share/file-picker interface. Where that file ends up, and who can see it, depends on what you choose to do with it — we have no visibility into or control over that destination.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device for as long as the App is installed, or until you delete it yourself. You can:
- Delete individual transactions or accounts from within the App.
- Use Clear All Data (Settings → Data Management) to permanently erase everything the App has stored.
- Uninstall the App, which removes its local database along with the rest of the App's data, consistent with standard Android/iOS app behavior.
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end.
5. Your Choices
- Notifications:you can turn the daily reminder off at any time in Settings, or manage notification permissions in your device's system settings.
- Export & backup: you can export your data at any time so you have a copy outside the App.
- Deletion: you can delete specific records or wipe all data at any time, as described above.
6. Children's Privacy
Money Bits is not directed at children and is not designed to appeal to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and since the App does not collect information at all (it stores data only on the device it's installed on, under the account holder's control), no data about a child would ever be transmitted to us. If you believe a child has used the App and you have concerns, please contact us at contact@ibtechlab.com.
7. Security
Your data's security depends primarily on the security of your own device, since that is where it is stored. We recommend using your device's built-in security features (passcode, biometric lock, disk encryption) to protect the App's data, and being careful about where you share exported backup files, since those files contain your financial records in plain, readable form.
8. International Users
Because the App does not transmit your data to us or to any third party, and does not process it outside your own device, most cross-border data-transfer obligations under laws such as the GDPR do not apply to our handling of your data — there is no transfer, because there is no collection. Any India-specific representations, if applicable, will be added here.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we change this Privacy Policy — for example, if a future version of the App adds a feature that changes how data is handled — we will update this document and change the effective date above. Since the App has no accounts, we cannot notify you individually; please check this page periodically, and review it whenever you update the App.
